This post is all about a baby’s first toys!
Babies don’t need many toys in the beginning, because using their senses, exploring the world, and interacting with other humans are entertainment enough! On top of that, babies have to learn how to grab toys and often can’t hold on to them for very long anyway.
Luckily, babies eventually get to a point where they begin to focus on and enjoy toys! It has been so neat to watch my own baby girl practice grabbing, holding, and licking new toys. Allowing her time to independently play gives her the opportunity to explore and gives me some more time to myself! Yay!
All you need are the right toys, which is why you’re in the right place! Here is the short list of baby’s first toys that my own baby has enjoyed immensely.
Baby Toys 0-4 months
Oball
This is the first toy my baby learned to play with! It’s perfect for baby because the holes are large enough for baby to have plenty of spots to grab onto. The ball is made of a bendable, light plastic that doesn’t hurt baby when she smacks herself in the face with it (which will be often!). I love that the ball is easy to grab and easy to clean. We bring this toy with us everywhere! Linked here.
Jungle gym
I use my baby’s jungle gym every day! I like having a soft one with a nice cushion to lay baby on, plenty of hanging toys with room to hang others, and soft bendy arches that are fun for baby to kick! Plus, I love that soft jungle gyms are so easy to put away. All you do is lift from the top arch and the whole thing collapses, making it easy to hang on a wall hook. Takes me 2 seconds! Linked here.
Binkie clip
Although the binkie clip is so handy for keeping binky on baby, it’s also been one of my baby’s most treasured toys! She loves to grab and chew on the beads. I love that I can clip it to her so I don’t have to retrieve her dropped toy every minute. It’s also handy to attach the clip to some other toys, such as a stuffed animal or the Oball. Linked here.
Scrunchie
Finally, my baby has absolutely loved playing with scrunchies! I wear scrunchies on my wrist often and noticed that baby kept reaching for it. This “toy” is nice because baby can grab, pull, and chew on it. I like attaching scrunchies to the binky clip, the jungle gym, or even just wrap it around baby’s wrist so that it can’t be dropped far! You can get a whole pack of scrunchies on Amazon and use some for yourself 😉
There it is, my list of baby’s first toys! Enjoy watching your baby learn how to play!
