Self-Care Ideas for New Moms at Home

This post is all about self-care ideas you can do from home!

Hey mama, you know what you need? Some self-care! It’s always a great idea to plan some time to rest and recharge yourself. Doing so will allow you to face the next day with optimism as you take care of your family!

The hard part about enjoying self-care as a mom is that you sometimes can’t actually leave the house – but that’s okay! Here are a bunch of self-care ideas that you can use while you stay at home!

Self-Care Ideas

Spa night!

First, my all time favorite self-care at home: a bath! Grab some bubbles, light a candle, and treat yourself to a nice warm soak. Bonus points if you can use a bath bomb!

If you’re not a fan of baths, there are other ways to have a little spa night. You could soak your feet, do a face mask, or apply some lotion. You could even learn how to give yourself a massage and really relax

Journal

One way to practice self-care is to take a mental break by journaling.

You could write about what’s bothering you, jot down some of your goals, or list some things you’re thankful for.

Quiet time

Maybe what you need the most right now is some quiet time!

You can try napping, reading, or putting together a pretty puzzle. Try leaving your phone off for a while to truly soak in a few minutes of calm.

You could also try some yoga or meditation! There are tons of videos on YouTube that walk you through yoga/meditation sequences.

Serve someone

A great way to practice self-care is by thinking of others! There are many ways you can serve others without leaving your house.

Try calling someone you know out of the blue. Or order food to somebody else’s house. You could also work on making something for someone else, such as a treat or craft.

Work on a project

Sometimes the best way to practice self-care is to work on a project!

You could work on an ongoing passion project or one of your old hobbies.

If you don’t have a current project, you could try something new! Maybe you’ve always wanted to try painting, baking, or DIYing and this is a perfect time to try!

You might find inspiration or satisfaction from learning something new. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to learn more about, doing so could be a great way to practice self-care.

Eat

An excellent way to practice self-care is to eat something!

If you haven’t had a decent meal for a while, now might be a good time to cook something deliciously filling.

Otherwise, you might enjoy making your favorite snack or treat. Don’t even think about feeling guilty if you have a treat – this is your time for self-care!

Walk

Another one of my favorite forms of self-care is to go on a walk! However, for the sake of staying indoors, you can do other things to get the same benefits as a walk.

If you need to move around, try walking around the house or doing some exercise. You could pull up a workout video on YouTube and follow along with that.

If you’re wanting to enjoy some fresh air, try opening a window. You can even set up a chair next to the window and spend a few quiet minutes enjoying nature from inside!

Well, here’s your final reminder to plan some time for self-care! Hopefully this list will spark some ideas of what will best rejuvenate you.
