Don’t let quarantine end your romance! Try these at home date ideas instead.
The global pandemic has caused a lot of people to stay home a lot more than usual, making us realize that it can be tough to be holed up with the same person 24/7 – EVEN when it’s the person you love the most!
Between work, school, kids, chores, and the inability to go anywhere or do much, you might start to feel that your romantic self has been kicked to the curb.
Don’t fret! This extra time with your partner can still be filled with fun and romance, even if you can’t go outside! Here is a list of indoor, at home, fun, and easy dates you could do tonight!
PLUS, I’ve included a FREE pdf download of a simplified list of these ideas. Print it out, put on your fridge, and have a month’s worth of ideas at your fingertips.
Dates:
- Indoor picnic
Grab a blanket and your next meal for an indoor picnic! This one is so easy but truly adds a little excitement to an otherwise normal meal. Go a little extra by planning a meal with summery foods – think watermelon or popsicles!
- Nachos + Sports game
This one is for all the sports-loving guys out there! Find an old game to put on, grab some chips/cheese, and don your favorite jerseys! Go crazy cheering on your team, even if it’s just the two of you!
- Movie night
Movie nights can range in effort level. You can plop on the couch and turn on a movie, or get real intense by crafting movie tickets, making homemade popcorn, and providing candy and soda on the side.
- Spend the day as kids
Do all the things you used to love as children! Blow bubbles, chalk the sidewalk, draw pictures, ride bikes, play Uno, and have pancakes for dinner. There is no end to the activities you can plan on ‘kid day’.
- Homemade fancy dinner
No restaurant, no problem! Tell your partner to get as dressed up as possible and cook a gourmet meal. Include candles, folded napkins, and light music for an all-out fancy night from home.
- Binge watch a show
Sometimes the best way to spend the evening is with a favorite show! Grab your favorite snacks and a blanket.
- Do a puzzle together
Puzzles can be so fun and relaxing! Find a pretty pictured puzzle and see how fast you and your partner can finish it.
- Bake bread or cookies
Choose a recipe and get baking! Get flirty by helping each other stir, feeding each other samples, and flicking flour at each other.
- Paint
Grab some paper or canvas, some paint, and brushes! You might want to try following a YouTube video tutorial of painting for this one. A great channel to try is Bob Ross. Although it’s quite difficult to paint as well as him, his voice is super soothing and it’s funny to hear his catchphrases. Give it a try if you’d like!
- Stovetop s’mores
All you need is some graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows! Turn up the heat on your stove and carefully cook some mallows, then apply to a chocolate cracker sandwich. Yum!
- Pillow fight
When was the last time you had a pillow fight?! Grab your fluffiest pillows and blankets and surprise your partner with a cozy battle!
- Spa night
Turn on some meditative music, fill a tub with warm water, and cover your eyes with cucumbers. Ah. Try massaging each other with lotion, trying out a new face mask, or making smoothies.
- Scrapbook/Adventure book
Gather some pictures of your adventures and compile them into a handy book! Now you can look back on all the good times and make plans for more!
- Write poems
You can stick to rhyming poems or lookup some more complicated verse styles such as haiku or acrostic. Then, write poems about whatever suites you! You might try writing love poems to each other and hiding them around the house.
- Make a movie
Lots of phones these days have a camera equipped with slow motion videos. Try thinking of things you can video in slow motion! Maybe buzzing your lips, flipping your hair, jumping in water, or sneezing. There are also apps you can use to make music videos pretty easily, which would be a super funny memory to have. There is also an app called 1 Second Everyday which you can use to document one second of each day. You might start today by videoing a clip from your at-home date night!
- Game night
Grab your favorite game and play with just each other! Anything from board and card games to a round of video games can make for a fun little date night.
- Learn a dance
YouTube is your friend tonight! You can level up your classy by figuring out how to do a traditional dance such as the tango or waltz. There are also channels that have dance workout tutorials if you’re looking to get a little sweaty! People also make dance tutorials for specific songs, so you might be able to find a favorite of yours and learn the official moves!
- Build a fort
All you need are blankets and chairs! It might be fun to sleep, watch a movie, or have a picnic in your fort.
- Do yoga/meditate
There is a lot of material online for some quality yoga or meditation practices, which can be just the romantic calm you need at the end of a crazy day! Friend-to-friend, my favorite YouTube channel for yoga is called Yoga With Adriene. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
- Book club
You and your partner can plan a cozy night where you sit by each other reading your own books, or you can each read a copy of the same book, OR you could take turns reading one book to eachother! Afterwards, discuss what’s going on in the story, what you like/dislike, what you think will happen next, or what you might change if you were the author!
- Take an online class
There are so many resources online for classes to take these days! Why not take one with your partner? You could watch videos on painting, cooking, dancing, or exercise. You could try musical instruments, financial planning, video editing, graphic design, or a writing workshop. There are even classes about relationships that could make for a great date night. Look around and find something you’re interested to try!
- Tell scary stories campfire style
First, wait for it to get dark. Then, turn out all the lights. Use some flashlights and imagination to create some creepy crawly tales! Eek!
- Nerf gun fight
Grab 2 nerf guns. Grab a million bullets. Establish rules and boundaries. Determine a reward. Attack!
- Massage each other
Massages feel so good. If your partner has a sore/tired body part, you can gently rub it out for them. There are some WONDERFUL tutorials online of how to massage someone, so you can learn how to actually do it right! Grab some yummy smelling lotion for extra-level-soothing.
- Celebrate Christmas
Sometimes you just want to enjoy some of those precious Christmas activities in the middle of June! Decorate some Christmas cookies, put on jolly music, turn on the Hallmark channel, or give each other nicely wrapped gifts.
- Scavenger hunts
Set up scavenger hunts for each other around the house! Start with a hidden prize, and then leave notes leading to the prize. You could turn it into a race and see who can find their prize first!

Grab some pineapple and leis, turn on some island-y music, and try a hula!
- Speed date get-to-know-you questions
There are a bunch of questions online that you may not have ever asked your partner before, or you can come up with your own! Maybe, what superpower would they like to have? Who was their childhood hero? Spend some quality time sharing your honest answers.
- Celebrate a weird holiday
Did you know there are several random holidays assigned to everyday of the year? Look up today’s date to see a list for yourself, and pick out one (or more) to celebrate!
- Shower together
Nothing says romance like a nice steamy shower!
