Baby birthday parties can be SO fun! But, let’s be honest, your baby probably won’t remember any of the party – so why spend a fortune on it?
We can still throw a baby birthday party that is fun, yummy, and beautiful for you and all the guests! Here are some tips for throwing a baby birthday party on a budget.
Baby Birthday Party
Use a free space
The first tip is to find a free space to use! If you have a summer baby, you’re lucky – it’s easy to find a free party space at a local park or in a friend’s backyard!
Ask friends for help
My #1 tip for throwing ANY party is consider the resources you have among friends and family members!
Your friends may be able to lend you party supplies, make treats, or even help you set up the party. You might have some friends and family members stay after the party to help clean up. You can even assign a friend to take picture throughout the party!
At my baby’s first birthday party, I borrowed my mother in law’s party platters for food, used my mom’s backyard to host the party, and had friends come early to set up decorations.
I also have an incredible best friend who works at a floral shop. She agreed to take some grocery flower bunches and arrange them into beautiful bouquets! These bouquets took the party to the next level and I’m so grateful for her, yay!
Homemade treats
A huge way to save money on a baby birthday party is by making homemade treats! Here are a few ideas of cheap treats you can serve at your party:
- cake
- cupcakes
- cake pops
- scones
- cookies
- fruit dip with fruit
- dip with chips
- ham sliders
- scones
Hang a sheet or streamers
An easy way to level up your party is to hang a sheet or some streamers! Hanging decorations can add a lot of dimension and texture to a party.
A sheet is easy to hang up. All you need are 2 trees or posts, 1 rope, 1 sheet, and a few clothespins (I only used 2). Tie up your rope, throw the sheet over it, and secure the sheet with your clothespins!
There are many ways to hang streamers! You can tie them to your rope, drape them between trees, or even tape them to windows.
Blow up your balloons
One way to save money on your baby birthday party is to skip the helium and blow up your balloons! You can find some cheap balloons on Amazon, blow them up, and hang them from the ceiling, wall, or trees.

Make banners
Another easy decoration you can add to your party is a banner! You can save a few dollars on your baby’s birthday party by making a banner by hand. One easy option is to cut out some paper hearts and tie them on some twine. Then, string them up in some trees and you’ve got a beautiful baby birthday party moment.
Best of luck planning your baby birthday party!
