This post is all about self care in the fall!
Practicing self care is most productive when it’s intentional and purposeful.
I’ve found that one of the best ways to intentionally practice self care is to do so seasonally! I love tuning into nature’s seasons and making the most of each chapter of the year.
Otherwise, my self care can become repetitive and less effective – boo!
So, to reset my self care routine AND fully enjoy the season, here are my favorite ways to practice self care in the fall!
Self Care in the Fall
Here are 9 activities I love to do in the fall and specific ways they help me practice self care.
Leaf walk/hike
Possibly my favorite part of fall is the weather where I live. The days get cooler, the evenings are crispy, and the leaves on trees turn beautiful colors!
To fully enjoy this part of the season, I love to take a nature walk or hike.
When I need to quickly feel refreshed, I take a 5 minute walk down my street.
Or, if I’m hoping to feel connected to somebody, I might plan a hike in the mountains and enjoy some quality time in a pretty landscape.
Bake something seasonal
Next, fall is the perfect season for baking. There are so many yummy fall flavors to capitalize on, including apple, pumpkin, and cinnamon!
When I want to feel recharged, I might make some protein yogurt dip to go with my batch of fresh apples.
Or, when I want to feel comforted (or friendly, haha), I might bake (and share??) a warm tray of pumpkin cookies!
Evening outdoors
Fall has the perfect weather – it’s finally cool enough to put on a cozy sweater and spend the evening outside!
When I want to feel calm, I take a mug of hot cocoa to the porch and watch the sunset.
If I want to feel connected, I might invite people over for a dip in the hot tub or s’mores around the fire!
Visit a corn maze/pumpkin patch
Of course, visiting a corn maze or pumpkin patch can be a form of self care in the fall!
If I want to recharge, I can wander through a corn maze and simply enjoy the present moment.
When I want to feel connected, I can invite friends or family to the pumpkin patch with me!
Paint a pumpkin
Now that we have a pumpkin, I love painting or carving them to enjoy self care in the fall.
When I want to feel connected, I might invite my friends or family over for a pumpkin painting party!
If I want to feel creative, I might research some pumpkin designs and attempt to go all-out creating one.
Make candles
Speaking of creative, a very cozy self care hobby to get into is making candles!
When I want to feel calm, I love lighting a candle and feeling present for a moment.
Of course, making candles is a great way to feel creative, too!
Football watch party
Hooray for football season!
Another way to practice self care in the fall is to watch football.
When I want to feel connected or generous, I might host a football watch party and prepare a bunch of food for guests.
When I want to feel cozy or romantic, I might just put on a football game or movie to watch with my partner.
Thrift some sweaters
Next, fall is a great time to thrift some sweaters.
When I need to recharge, I absolutely love visiting a thrift store all by myself. I love wandering the aisles, appreciating ancient treasures, and feeling every soft sweater available.
When I want to connect, I love inviting friends to come thrifting with me!
Watch a spooky/sporty/cozy movie
Finally, I love watching cozy movies in the fall!
Nothing makes me feel quite so cozy and calm and curling up to a fall-themed movie or show in the middle of October. With a cool breeze blowing through an open window onto my thick-socked feet? Ooh, heavenly!
Best of luck to you on practicing self care in the fall! May it be cozy and effective.
