This post is all about the must-have items you need to include on your wedding registry!
When I was planning my wedding registry, I was overwhelmed with all the gift ideas that were available!
If you create a wedding registry on Amazon, you have access to millions of products for your registry! As a newlywed trying to start a new life in a new apartment with a new spouse (!), it can be daunting to sort through what you need (pots + pans) verses what you just want (all the cute throw pillows!!!)
That’s why I’ve put together a list of the 13 wedding registry products I use EVERY DAY! If you’re a newlywed putting together a wedding registry, make sure to include these products! If you’re not putting together a registry, you might consider splurging on yourself for one (or more) of these MUST-HAVE items!
PLUS, I’ve included some quick instructions on how to set up a wedding registry on Amazon (super easy, super recommended!) as well as a few items I wish I had left off of my registry!
This post will teach you how to build the best wedding registry ever!
FIRST THINGS FIRST…
How to start your wedding registry on Amazon:
- First, click this link to set up a profile on Amazon if you haven’t already. TIP: It can be super helpful to your friends and family members to include a picture of you and your spouse on your registry. This way, when a friend looks up your registry on Amazon, they can be sure they’re on the right registry because they see your beautiful faces!
- Go to the Amazon Wedding Registry portal. If you’re on the Amazon home page, you can find this by selecting the Wedding Registry option on the Account & Lists drop-down menu in your top right corner.
- Select ‘Create My Registry’.
- Select Submit.
- That’s it! All you have to do now is add gifts to your registry by searching for Amazon products and selecting the ‘Add to Registry’ button.
NEXT, what items do I add to my wedding registry?!
Now you’ve got to fill your registry up with all the fun things! Make sure to include these 11 items that I use EVERY DAY from my own wedding registry!
TIP: If you have friends or family members getting married around the same time you are (or earlier), try looking up their registry to find more ideas for your own! You might totally forget to include silverware on your registry, until you see that your friend getting married in a month included it on hers!
11 Must Have Wedding Registry Items
1) Magnetic Dry Erase Whiteboard Sheet
We LOVE this whiteboard sheet, it is one of the most helpful products we’ve ever used! We keep ours stuck to the fridge, and all the magnetic markers and eraser stick to the fridge nearby. Whenever we run out of a food item, we can easily and quickly make a note of it on this whiteboard sheet. Then, when I make a grocery list, all I have to do is take a picture of the whiteboard and I’m good to go!
We’ve also used this sheet to make to-do lists, chore charts, and calendars. It’s perfect for writing a reminder to yourself or leaving a sweet note for your spouse to see. Truly, the options are endless! If you like organizing AT ALL, I would recommend this whiteboard sheet a hundred times over!
Can’t get enough whiteboard organization? You might also love this whiteboard calendar, which I hang on the wall and use for meal planning every week!
2) Comforter + Pillows
Once you get married, you’ll probably have to upgrade to a bigger bed. It might be the perfect time to also upgrade all of your bedding, from sheets and blankets to pillows and comforters!
One of the wedding registry items I was SO excited for was a comforter. Comforters are the key to the best night’s sleep – they are incredibly cozy and fluffy, but also air out way more than quilts to keep you cool at night. I was so excited to own a comforter, in fact, that I added TWO different ones to my registry – and I love them both! In the winter, we actually use both the heavy and light comforters on our bed for ultimate coziness and warmth. In the summer, we just use the lighter one and never get too hot. It’s a dream come true!
My husband was most thrilled to upgrade his pillow when we got married. The one he was using while we dated was the one he had used since childhood, so it was high-time for a newer, fluffier, more comfortable pillow! Say hello to your new pillows and better sleep at night!

3) Handheld Vacuum
As newlyweds, we live in an apartment, so we don’t have a lot of space to vacuum. PLUS, we don’t have any kids yet, so our floors typically stay clean for a long time. Instead of hauling out a big, bulky vacuum all the time, I like to use this handheld vacuum to spot-clean our floors! This handheld vacuum charges, so you never have to get new batteries for it. The vacuum is also perfect for cleaning shelves, closets, and cars! If you like to keep your space clean every day, consider adding this amazing item to your registry!
4) Blender
At first, I was hesitant to add a blender to my registry because they can be expensive! In hindsight, I am SO glad that we did. We use our blender ALL. THE. TIME. For smoothies, protein shakes, milkshakes, and more! This blender is the perfect balance between price and power. It does the job well, but doesn’t cost as much as the high-tech blenders you see nowadays! Do your tummy a favor and get this blender for some delicious meals and snacks.
5) Towels
Now that you’ll be living with someone other than yourself, it’s time to get a matching set of towels! Plus, let’s face it, it’s probably time for a towel upgrade anyway. These cotton towels from Amazon are simple and reasonably priced, but they’re not too thin and flimsy to be uncomfortable! I grabbed a black pair because I love that you can’t see any stains on them, but there are other colors to choose from as well!
6) Dishes
I’ve got a pro tip for you: get a set of glass dinnerware!
I actually found 2 sets of simple white dishes on Amazon, one glass and one plastic. Unfortunately, the plastic set wore down super fast! In just a few months, every plate was scratched and crack, and we ended up throwing all of them away!
On the other hand, the glass dinnerware has held up fabulously. We have had no cracks, breaks, or scratches no matter what we do with the plates and bowls! I love that this set comes with both big AND small plates because sometimes we just need a small plate for a sandwich or toast, and other times we want a large plate for a dinner casserole and sides. Best of both worlds!
7) Febreze
Ladies, listen up! If you’ve never lived with a man before, TRUST me when I say: BUY SOME FEBREZE!
Okay, girls can be stinky, too, but the bottom line is that living with other people can get real smelly real quick! Do yourself a favor and add your favorite febreze scents to your wedding registry (or shopping list!)
I am so glad I got a 4-pack for my wedding, because now we can keep febreze cans in multiples places around the apartment. I have one in the bathroom, one under the kitchen sink (very helpful for when we burn dinner), and one next to our workout equipment. Plus, I’ve been using these cans for over 2 years and haven’t had to buy any more yet! They just last so long!
8) Tupperware
If you are a newlywed on a budget, tupperware might be the best investment you can make! We save so much food (and money!!!) by packing our leftover food into tupperware containers and eating it later. Additionally, if we have class or work that will last all day, we often pack lunch or snacks into tupperware so it doesn’t make a mess in our backpacks. You probably don’t need a million sizes, but it’s nice to get a pack of tupperware with a few size variations so that you can fit different amounts of food in them!

9) Frying pan
I think the item I use in my kitchen the most is my frying pan! It’s perfect for making so much amazing food – from eggs and bacon to tortillas and meat!
If you only need a frying pan, this one on Amazon has amazing reviews and looks pretty too.
If you’re in the market for a whole set, there’s this pretty one that is all white and aesthetic (swoon!!) or a more budget friendly set – classic black.
10) Kitchen mat
Whenever we have friends over, they go crazy over our kitchen mat.
“This is brilliant!” they say, “Your feet won’t kill when you do the dishes!”
Many apartments don’t have dishwashers, so if you’re looking at apartment living, PLEASE get yourself a kitchen mat! Put it in front of your sink so that when you spend 20 minutes doing dishes, your feet won’t scream with discomfort the whole time.
This mat is thick, comfy, and easy to clean. It’s probably the smartest item we have in our kitchen because it’s helped our feet stay comfy for countless hours!
11) Games!
Don’t forget to have some fun and add some games to your wedding registry! We love playing games, sometimes in the middle of the day as a break from work, or sometimes in the evening when we have friends over.
Amazon has a slew of fun games to add to your registry! Some of our favorites are Catchphrase, Code Names (plus the 2 player version – Code Names Duet!), Exploding Kittens, Uno, and, of course, just a simple set of cards.

12) Shoe rack
A mess of shoes is one of my greatest pet peeves! Instead of digging through a bin or closet every day, store your shoes the smart way on a rack for some easy grabbing and putting away. This shoe rack keeps all of my shoes from getting squished or lost, and I actually keep 2 of them in our closet for all of our shoes! It’s also a great idea to keep one of these in your entryway or by a garage door so that your shoes always have a place to land.
13) Lamps
Finally, I am so happy that we added a few lamps to our registry! Apartments are often lit very poorly, with a limited amount of windows and old orange light fixtures. Brighten up your space with some lamps!
I have 2 floor lamps that are perfect for apartment living because they don’t take up space on our limited shelf surfaces. I love that this one has a foot switch so it’s easy to turn on when my hand are full or I’m just walking by. This one is fun because we can turn the lights different directions depending on where we need more light, and it also has a half-light setting to really set the mood.
BONUS: 3 Things I Wish I Had NOT Included on My Wedding Registry!!!
Besides those flimsy plastic plates mentioned earlier, there are a few other things that we got from our registry that I eventually regretted! Don’t make the same mistakes as me – unless you are CERTAIN that you NEED these items, skip them!!
1) Party bowls
While I put together my registry, someone suggested I add party bowls to my list! I thought, “Of course I need party bowls, they are so pretty and I love to host parties!”
It’s true that I love hosting parties and I’ve hosted many since being married; however, I always end up using my normal white bowls for the party! I never dig through my storage for those party bowls – it’s just not worth the hassle, and the white bowls look so good with whatever party decorations we use!
Save yourself some $$ and skip adding the party bowls!
2 Revolving spice rack
This spice rack is super cool if you are a cooking expert and love to use spices. However, I am not!!! I love the look of this spice rack and how many spices it came with… but I think I’ve only used 2 or 3 of the spices from this rack!
I could have saved a lot of money by skipping this spice rack and only purchasing the spices I actually use each day. Unless you love having a variety of spices, I suggest you skip this wedding gift!
3 Knife box
We DO use our knives every day, so it’s important to include some good knives on your wedding registry if you don’t own any yet. However, the knife box takes up SO MUCH room on our teeny tiny apartment counter tops!
I have wished over and over again that I had avoided this knife box and instead got a set of knives and either a knife drawer organizer or a metal wall-hanging knife rack. Both of these options would have freed up a lot of counter space, which we already don’t have a lot of in our small apartment kitchen!
Before you add a knife box to your registry, make sure to check out the other options so that you can decide which knife situation will work best for you!
